Robertson Brings Home Runner Up Finish In Heated Battle At The Madhouse

Winston-Salem, NC (July 1, 2013) Flying Ryan Robertson lived up to his nickname in Saturday night’s NASCAR Whelen All-American Classic Muscle Sportsman Series 60-lap feature at the famed 1/4-mile.  Proving that his car would be the one to beat, Robertson continued to excel during morning practice.  As nightfall descended upon historic Bowman Gray Stadium, Robertson would receive the luck of the draw to put his No. 21 Workshop of Davidson Chevy in the lead position for this feature race.

Robertson took off in the opening laps of the feature race and would continue to dominate until a challenge by fellow competitor, Zack Clifton would cause him to fall back to third with 18 laps to go.  A hard charging Derek Stoltz would quickly take this lead from Clifton with Robertson following for the runner up finish.

Although hoping for a win for both his family and his supportive sponsor, The Workshop of Davidson, Inc., Robertson said that this race couldn’t have been more fun.

“That was good hard racing,” said Robertson. “I hate second but that was a lot of fun and I left nothing on the table, that is what this sport is all about.”

Although he couldn’t be in attendance, Mike Foster, executive director at The Workshop of Davidson, Inc., said “We are so happy for Ryan and the entire Robertson Motorsports team for their strong run this past weekend. The Workshop of Davidson is proud to have our collaboration with Ryan and everyone associated with the  No. 21 Chevy.”

Robertson will be running on a limited schedule at Bowman Gray Stadium this season.  Be sure to follow his racing schedule and results here on RyanRobertsonRacing.com.

Clear Sailing: Robertson Finishes 11th at First SoBo Run

March 11, 2012

For Immediate Release:

SOUTH BOSTON, VA:  On a cloudless Carolina-blue-sky day, Ryan Robertson got his feet wet on a new track – the 4/10 mile oval at South Boston Motor Speedway, alongside some stiff competition.  The young driver and his #31 Sheetz Chevrolet sailed the 300 laps of the NASCAR Whelen Late Model season opener there this weekend trouble-free, posting a comfortable 11th place finish.

After qualifying 14th with a time of 16.01 seconds, Robertson took to the track Saturday in spectacular weather conditions, with an equally spectacular crowd of 1,200+ ringing the track.  The majority of the race was run under green flag conditions, with only four cautions for the day.  Robertson managed to stay out of trouble all day, maintaining position between 12th and 16th spots for most of the race.

“Having never been here before and getting limited test time, we didn’t have quite the right setup for the track,” said Robertson.  “But the car handled well, and we just kept trying to find a faster groove.  It’s a fun track – fast for a four-tenths mile track.  Next time we run here we’ll have a better sense of what it takes.  All in all, it’s a good day when you come away with a decent finish versus a field like this, and no damage.”

Robertson’s next scheduled appearance in the Sheetz #31 Chevrolet will come at Richmond International Raceway for the 2012 Denny Hamlin Foundation Short Track Showdown on April 26th.  This will mark the second year he has appeared in this prestigious late model race, where up-and-coming drivers run alongside the likes of NASCAR Sprint Cup notables.

Made-to-Order Speed: Robertson Gears up Again for Sheetz at SoBo

March 8, 2012

For Immediate Release

South Boston, VA:  Robertson Motorsports announced this week the renewal of their relationship with Sheetz, the Pennsylvania-based convenience store chain made famous for their Made•to•Order ® food.  This marks the team’s third season of involvement with Sheetz, which will begin at South Boston Speedway in the NASCAR Whelen Late Model 300 race this weekend.

Saturday’s race will be one of the biggest races of the season at the storied 4/10 mile track, well-known for its high speeds that approach 100mph.  Robertson will have notable company, including two past Whelen All American Series National Champions.

But Robertson and the #31 Sheetz Chevrolet are used to their own notoriety.  The 25-year old competed last year at both Martinsville and Richmond among some of the top drivers in the country, including some NASCAR Sprint Cup notables, finishing top 20 in both races.  Robertson notched two wins in his other nine starts last year, one coming at Ace Speedway and the other at Bowman Gray Stadium.

“We’re excited about getting the season cranking this year with Sheetz again,” stated Robertson while at a pre-race driver’s appearance today at the SoBo Sheetz.  “It’s an amazing group of people, and we’re proud to be a part of their plans again this year.  Plus, we get to stop at Sheetz when we’re on the road and grab a bite to eat, which is always a plus.”

Robertson’s plans with the Sheetz Chevrolet this year include repeat performances at RIR in the Denny Hamlin Short Track Showdown again, Bowman Gray Stadium, Ace Speedway, and other select venues in North Carolina and Virginia.
