Robertson Racing Turns up the Heat

June 9, 2008

Winston-Salem, NC:  Fresh off his latest UARA race, Ryan Robertson and the Carolina Wood Floors/Winston-Salem State University Chevrolet were back at Bowman Gray Stadium this weekend, competing in two 20 lap races in the Sportsman Division.  Withtemperatures in the triple digits, the heat was on in more ways than one.

Robertson drew 19th to start the first race, and quickly worked his way through the pack on the short quarter-mile track to finish 8th inthe 24 car field.  The invert in the second race gave Robertsonthe number 3 starting position, and the young 22-year old quickly took command of second place.  Seeing an opening with five laps to go, Robertson made a move on the inside to pass for the lead, colliding with Mitch Gales and sending both drivers spinning.  Robertson finished 12th.

“I had a little daylight there with five to go”, said Robertson.  “I thought maybe I could get by – I don’t think Mitch knew I was there.  I hate that it ended that way for both of us – we were both having a good race.  That’s just the way it happens sometimes at the stadium.  It’s tight, and with just 20 laps you have to be a little aggressive sometimes if it looks like you can get by.”

Robertson is having a busy season this year, with a sponsor-filledschedule of more than 25 races planned, including 8 UARA races with Carolina Beverage Company’s Savage Energy brand.  Thepublic appearances and promotional activity associated with theteam’s sponsors have also kept young Robertson busy, including interviews with WSJS and a television commercial shoot withWCWG CW20 which will begin airing later this summer.

“We’re busy, but having a lot of fun this year.  It’s great to get exposed to this many different tracks, and we’re enjoying providing our sponsors with the kind of marketplace presence they want.”  Robertson’s Savage Energy car was also on display at Bowman Gray this weekend, with product sampling and promotion to the crowd on hand.

Robertson will be at Hickory Motor Speedway this Saturday night, and teammate Scott Hall will run the Carolina Wood Floors/Winston-Salem State University Chevrolet at Ace Speedway on Friday and again at Bowman Gray on Saturday night.
