Rain Doesn’t Stop Robertson from First Win of Season

June 30, 2008

Winston-Salem, NC: With cloud filled skies, it looked like Saturday night’s Savage Energy Night was going to be washed out at Bowman Gray Stadium, in Winston-Salem, NC. Luckily, the heavy rain missed the Stadium and allowed for Ryan Robertson, driver of the #23 Carolina Wood Floors/WSSU Motorsport Management Chevrolet, to win his first race of the 2008 season.

Robertson, who is also sponsored by Savage Energy in the UARA, started his day off strong and kept up the momentum through the wave of the checkered flag.

“It was just a matter of time before Ryan got his first win this season,” said Team Owner, and father, Mike Robertson. “His driving has been phenomenal this season. Saturday everything finally came together. It was great that we were able to win on Savage Energy night.”

With more cars than starting positions, Robertson had to qualify for a chance to draw for a starting position. He turned a 15.08, just eight one hundredths off the track record.

The night continued to get better as the fans consumed the Savage Energy they were sampling in the grandstands. Robertson Motorsports had crew member Jason Hoyle draw for the starting position. He drew the outside pole.

Robertson did not stay in second for long. When the green flag waved he got a jump on the pole sitter, taking the lead. There were no other lead changes in the 60 lap race.

“It is great to see Ryan win,” said Mike Causby, Owner of Carolina Wood Floors. “He has come such a long way since we joined the team in 2006. I look forward to seeing him continue to succeed.”

Robertson Motorsports will have two cars racing at the Rusty Harpe Memorial Race this Wednesday, June 2nd at Caraway Speedway in Asheboro, NC. Robertson will be driving the #31 Savage Energy Chevrolet while teammate Scott Hall drivers the #29 Carolina Wood Floors/WSSU Motorsport Management Chevrolet.

The team is currently sponsored by Carolina Wood Floors, WSSU Motorsport Management, Savage Energy, WCWG CW20 Television, and WSJS 600/1200 AM Radio.
