Two Top Five Finishes for Robertson Motorsports
July 26, 2008
Winston-Salem, NC: Ryan Robertson and Robertson Motorsports headed out to Bowman Gray Stadium for the last of three Savage Energy nights on Saturday night. They were anxious to get in the #23 Carolina Wood Floors/WSSU Motorsport Management Chevrolet to see if all the problems had been fixed from last week when Robertson’s teammate, Scott Hall, was involved in a bad
accident.
The car was running well during the first practice and Robertson was ready to get the racing started. He went out quick during qualifying to take the second fastest qualifying time. After the redraw Robertson saw himself sitting in the 5th position for the start of the first of two 20 lap races of the evening.
By the first caution on lap two Robertson had already moved up to 4th. Only a few laps later on lap five he was sitting in third. Robertson was able to hold on to that position for the remainder of the race.
For the second race the top 14 cars were inverted, making Robertson start 12th. On lap four two cars got into it in turns three and four in front of Robertson. He was able to get away quickly but not without any damage. The front right bumper and the right side of the hood were damaged.
Robertson came out of the wreck sitting in 9th place. On the restart he was able to get a jump on the car in front of him and by lap 7 he was in 7th. On lap ten he made a move again and was running 6th.
On lap 16 Robertson was coming out of turn three racing aggressively against the 50 car. The 50 car lost control and spun out giving Robertson the opportunity to pass him and moved up to 5th. He finished the night 5th.
Before the race on Saturday, Robertson Motorsports spent the day at Ace Speedway in Altamahaw, NC testing the #31 Savage Energy Chevrolet. After taking a month off, the car was running well. Robertson put in the fastest practice times during the practice session.
Robertson will be racing in his 5th UARA race this Friday night at Ace Speedway. Hall will be back in the #23 car at Bowman Gray Stadium on Saturday.
Robertson Motorsports is currently sponsored by Carolina Wood Floors, WSSU Motorsport Management, Savage Energy, WCWG CW20 Television, and WSJS 600/1200 AM Radio.
