Robertson Puts On A Good Show Despite Car Problems And Accident
September 8, 2008
Winston-Salem. NC: Saturday was an eventful day for Robertson Motorsports at Caraway Speedway, in Asheboro, NC. Ryan Robertson and the #29 Carolina Wood Floors/WSSU Motorsport Management Chevrolet headed out to the track, hoping the car was fixed from an accident two weekends ago.
Unfortunately the car would not crank when it was time to head out to the first practice. The team spent the rest of the day working on the car. They missed the practice sessions as well as the qualifying run. Luckily by the time the race was getting ready to start, they thought they had all their problems fixed.
“I was so proud of the team,” said Team Owner, Mike Robertson. “No one gave up. We just kept making adjustments hoping they would work.”
Since he did not qualify, Robertson was forced to start 21st for the 75 lap race. The team quickly found out all their hard work paid off. Robertson immediately started making his way up towards the front of the pack.
With only ten laps to go Robertson was running 3rd, however, he was involved in an accident when track officials did not wave the caution flag after a car had spun out a couple laps before hand. The leaders got tangled up trying to pass the stalled car and Robertson was left with nowhere to go. The newly fixed car sustained damage again to the front of the car.
“It was great to see Ryan work his way all the way to the front of the pack, especially since we did not know if he was going to be able to race,” said Mike. “It is disappointing that our good run was ended in an accident again this week. Hopefully, the bad luck is behind us now.”
Robertson Motorsports is currently sponsored by Carolina Wood Floors, WSSU Motorsport Management, Savage Energy, WCWG CW20 and WSJS 600/1200AM.
